The Clean Energy Tax Reporting Analyst role brings together US federal and state compliance and tax planning analytics for its operational and growth portfolio. The ideal candidate is seeking a dynamic professional opportunity at the crossroads of tax compliance, data analytics and transaction support.
The position is primarily responsible for the preparation of the US federal and state income tax compliance for the Clean Energy renewable energy development and operational businesses. This role will actively engage in and support analyzing data that is of significant importance to the business and its owners. The position also supports tax planning and business transactions, applying both federal and state tax technical and income tax accounting. Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to think critically, take initiative, and work exceptionally well with tax and non-tax colleagues at all levels within the organization and with its owners.
The position reports to the Senior Analyst, US Tax Reporting for Clean Energy and will partner closely with other tax professionals of its owners.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Prepare and review of the Clean Energy US federal and state partnership income tax returns.
Support quarterly reporting to investors, including the preparation of information in accordance with ASC740.
Assist with technical research and quantitative analysis for business and tax planning projects that optimize financial and cash taxes on existing and prospective company investments and consider effects on the business and its owners.
Support the forecasting and annual budgeting process, state and local clean energy grants and incentives, disallowed business interest, valuation allowance, outside basis, and uncertain tax positions of the Clean Energy business provided to its investors.
Support transaction review and documentation processes, including various federal, state and local tax areas, including the review of financial models.
Qualifications of Ideal Candidates:
1-2 years of experience working on partnership tax with a national accounting firm or a multi-national corporate tax department.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or tax. Master's degree / CPA, a plus.
A driven curiosity to learn and apply rapidly evolving and complex tax technical concepts with a business first mindset.
Desire to learn partnership tax technical and compliance expertise, and interest to further develop, through supporting M&A and renewable investment transactions in close partnership with business and tax peers, state tax exposure a plus.
Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).

Essential Functions and Duties:

Serve as key focal Pricing Analyst for USG market segments ensuring that Trade directives are adhered to.
Maintain Baseline SQs in LARA utilizing costs from Load Engine for general quotation use by Trade for customer quotations.
File contracts and Tariffs as applicable to the situation.
Liaise with key APL staff (managers and booking offices) to maintain market competitiveness at the highest possible Revenue/TEU & Contribution/TEU through regular monitoring of utilization reports; constant evaluation of BVA; responding to, and acting on CTB reports; and establishing regular market reports on USG budget segments and vessel strings.
Regularly engage with CMA counterparts in overseas offices to ensure APL rates are at a satisfactory amount to guarantee APL space and equipment, and report key changes to APL Govt Trade management.

Keep abreast of changes and ensure interested parties are kept informed of developments.
Request amendments to suit APL business needs as necessary.
Establish and maintain repository of APL contracts, amendments, and track performance vs MQC prior to expiry.

Compiles and analyzes data for products, customer segments, markets, industry trends and competitive environments for supporting the annual marketing plan regarding price and product options for various customer segments across all utility zones served by the company.
Visualizes pricing analysis and competitor research to assist with sales management decision-making.
Determines MM products and pricing that maximizes revenue and profitability, including allowances for appropriate risk premiums.
Provides Operations and MM Sales Support with information necessary for executing timely wholesale supply purchases and for selling MM existing customer renewals and new sales opportunities while ensuring pricing consistency aligned with the company's risk management capabilities and tolerance.
Evaluates utility choice program opportunities and ensures enrollment in those programs meeting the profitability requirements of the company.
Leads product/pricing process automation and proactively seeks opportunities for efficiency improvement.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams for maximizing MM new customer acquisition, improving customer retention, and achieving Sales and Marketing revenue goals.
Optimizes MM sales channel performance by determining targeting and lead prospecting parameters and assists with communications and messaging for targeted prospects.
Maintains, analyzes, and reports information including sales performance, competitor intelligence, market shares, market growth, and market potential.
Completes special projects as necessary and other duties as assigned.
A well- qualified candidate will possess the following:
Bachelor's degree in business management, Marketing, or related discipline required. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of analytical experience. Energy industrial experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal and project management skills working with multiple teams often under tight guidelines.
Demonstrated ability for:
Establishing rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, management and other staff.
Logically analyzing and solving complex business opportunities with innovative solutions.
Obtaining consensus with cross-functional teams.
