The Olympic Sports Assistant / Strength & Conditioning will assist all strength and conditioning personnel to implement the strategic plan of strength and conditioning to enhance student athlete experiences in each Olympic Sport within Virginia Tech's Athletic Department. This position will report directly to Assistant AD/Strength & Conditioning, Olympic Sports.

The successful candidate will join a team of 2 medical oncologists (search for 3rd medical oncologist ongoing), 2 oncologic surgeons, 3 medical oncologic residents, a radiation oncology intern, and a surgical oncology intern.
The ACCRC serves as a premier small animal medical center that provides exceptional, comprehensive and compassionate cancer care. The ACCRC contains a new state-of-the-art linear accelerator (Varian Edge with HD120TM MLC, 6DoF couch, and Eclipse TPS v15.6) with stereotactic radiation therapy capabilities. The Radiation Oncology service is supported by a Medical Physics group, and 2 full-time licensed Radiation Therapists (RTT), one of which is also a certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD). Other technologies that are available include a 64-slice CT scanner (Siemens SOMATOM Confidence) for diagnostic and radiation therapy simulation studies, a small animal (mice, rodents) PET/CT with onsite medical cyclotron, a 9.0 Tesla MRI scanner for small animals (mice, rodents) and soon a Siemens Prisma MRI 3.0 Tesla scanner for clinical use.

Reporting to the Director and working closely with the Project Manager, this role involves contributing to interdisciplinary teams composed of faculty, staff, and student employees to develop conceptual architectural designs that serve community needs.
The Architectural Designer will be instrumental in advancing community-centered projects through design development, visualization, and engagement processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to create meaningful impact in communities while gaining valuable hands-on experience in architectural design, participatory processes, and collaboration with stakeholders.
Job Summary:
The Architectural Designer will be responsible for developing conceptual architectural designs and site plans at various scales, accompanied by renderings, sections, physical models, and animated walkthroughs. Familiarity with site layout design and corresponding landscape layout knowledge. The role includes preparing for and participating in community meetings, compiling project reports, and mentoring student employees engaged in design work.
This position requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and direct engagement with community stakeholders, addressing real-world challenges in areas such as historic preservation, planning, and sustainable development.
Additionally, this role will serve as the primary liaison for CDAC's internal IT needs, coordinating with AAD IT as necessary.

Shift: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday
This position will not exceed 1,500 hours during the initial year of employment or during the Affordable Care Act measurement period of April 1st through March 31st.

* Performs general maintenance duties, such as mowing; picking up trash along roadways and landscaped areas; weeding and watering landscape areas, hanging baskets, and planters; planting bulbs, flowers, shrubs and trees
* Sets up at multiple locations for various events by setting up tents, tables and chairs; cleaning and restoring the area after events
* Performs general park facility maintenance duties, such as emptying trash containers, sanitizing bathrooms, performing minor plumbing maintenance and painting shelters
* Maintains playground equipment; places mulch around playground equipment; installs new playground equipment
* Assists with snow removal, special events, grave openings, brush collection, leaf collection, Christmas tree collections and Fall and Spring cleanup

* Ability to operate mowers and related landscaping equipment
* Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time
Education and Experience
* High school diploma or GED and moderate experience landscaping, maintenance or grounds keeping work, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record at the time of hire
* Individuals must be able to work in various climatic conditions, be able to work in a crouched or kneeling position for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects.
* Work has standard vision requirements
* No special vocal communication skills are required
* No special hearing perception is required
* Work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arm's length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities
* Work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather) and exposure to the risk of electrical shock

QUALIFICATIONS:
Possesses a degree from a bachelors (Communication Sciences and Disorders) or higher program in a related program approved by ASHA.
Complies with accepted professional standards and practice.
Screening including a negative TB skin test and/or CXR and other tests as required by Bassett Physical Therapy.
Maintains current CPR certification.
