We are looking for a promising designer who seeks to develop their own creative practice within a collaborative school of design and art, all within the context of a Research-1 university. Our faculty work with undergraduate and graduate students in human-computer interaction, interaction design, graphic design, social design, and illustration. We anticipate many opportunities ahead to build and reshape curricula. We are interested in candidates whose research aims to shape how people interact with contemporary and emerging technologies. Projects could include websites, apps, games, interfaces, wearables, immersive environments, and more. Creative practices might be organized in other ways-for example, around sustainability, medicine, public health, and urban technology. We embrace many forms of research, including scholarly, collaborative, client-driven, or self-generated. Job Summary The College of Education is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable individual to join our team as an Assistant Professor in Early Childhood Education. The successful candidate will contribute to our mission of preparing educators to support and advocate for students with diverse learning needs. Essential Functions Maintains course syllabi and provides each student with a written statement of course requirements at the beginning of each semester. Prepares lectures and leads discussions in various delivery methods (face to face, hybrid and online), models researched best practices in instructional strategies, promotes higher order thinking and hands-on learning and performs other activities which are related to and meet the course objectives. Conducts appropriate evaluations of student's performances and assigns grades on the basis of such evaluations. Maintains records of student's grades and attendance according to University requirements. Serves as a College of Education Advisor providing academic and career advisement and conducts office hours/ conference time with students each week according to University requirements. Tutors' and prepares students for successful passage of the MEGA ( Missouri Educator Gateway Assessments: MoGEA and MoCA) Participates in the development and revision of course content, textbook/ equipment selection, instructional materials, and teaching assignment/ scheduling. Maintains professional skills and subject expertise through study and involvement in professional organizations. Serves on department, college and University committees as needed to assist in policy development, promotion or tenure review, and other matters to benefit the University. Actively recruits and retains students within the College of Education. Contributes to the field of education through scholarly research, presentations and collaborations. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Earned Doctorate from an accredited University Licensure or license-eligible in the state of Missouri HLC Qualified with 18 graduate hours in the area of expertise Experience in K-12 school settings. A commitment to excellence in the field of education in a diverse environment in higher education. Good knowledge of principles and theory of teaching field. Good knowledge of practices and procedures of teaching. Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills as well as experience with technology. Demonstrated ability to perform detailed work as well as the ability to work as a team member within the college.
