Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Professional Development Educator enhances professional practice and the provision of quality patient care by providing evidence-based quality educational programs and activities that promote professional aptitude for nursing, inter-professional, and non-licensed clinical staff at the assigned facility.
What you will do in this role:
Lecture nursing course theory
Develop tests in conjunction with the Program Chair
Supervise nursing students in specified clinical rotations
Provide academic student advisement, guidance and tutoring
Utilize a variety of resources to maximize student learning and active engagement
Assess individual and group learning needs and modifies teaching approaches as necessary to maintain effective instruction
Maintain positive teaching qualities including appearance, voice tone, body language, preparedness, enthusiasm, and creativity conducive to a learning environment
Maintain immediate availability to students during a clinical rotation offering feedback and direction in a professional manner
Communicate effectively and professional with clinical unit staff and leadership to facilitate a collegial relationship
What qualifications you will need:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing required
3-5 years of nursing clinical practice in a pediatric area
Teaching in a nursing academic program is preferred
Must have or be actively working on a masters degree in nursing. Active, unencumbered RN or APRN license is required

Curriculum and materials for core courses are standardized and will be provided, though substantial curricular and pedagogical freedom exists, allowing the instructor to customize the course around their unique expertise. The course is taught by a highly collaborative team of instructors. The candidate should be interested in learning from other instructors' areas of expertise in developing their own course material and pedagogy.
Research:
The successful candidate would be expected to maintain scholarly academic status with the AACSB, CBA's accrediting body. Details can be found on the CBA website. The subject and outlet of publications is flexible, and can include mission-related, pedagogical, and/or scholarly research.
Service:
The successful candidate would be expected to be actively involved in the LMU community, including participation in the CBA Institute for Business Ethics and Sustainability, departmental functions, and undergraduate advising.

The Communication Studies Department at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles seeks applicants for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Strategic Organizational Communication, beginning Fall 2025. We seek a candidate with primary expertise in Organizational Communication. Possible research areas include, but are not limited to, non-profit or alternative forms of organizing, corporate communication, crisis communication, global or public organizations, intercultural approaches to organizations, and organizational technology. Applicants should clearly describe how they take a strategic communication approach to one or more of these applied contexts. Position Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Communication in hand at the time a contract is offered. Final appointment is dependent on a confirmed terminal degree status. Applicants who have not yet completed their doctorate must demonstrate progress verifiable by evidence and substantive enough to ensure completion of their degree at the time of appointment.
The successful candidate will be expected to adopt a teacher-scholar model of professional engagement with a commitment to service and an established, productive agenda of research and scholarship. Candidates must be able to develop and teach required introductory, advanced, and capstone courses in our major's Organizational Communication area as well as demonstrate the ability to teach introductory courses in communication theory and research methods. Application materials should clearly demonstrate the ability to teach courses in our curriculum. Candidates will have the opportunity to propose new courses to expand our offerings in our major, our public relations and strategic communication minor, as well as future department and University Core initiatives. We value critical approaches to strategic Organizational Communication and encourage applicants to explain how their teaching and research expand the expertise of the Communication Studies Department and the social justice orientation of Loyola Marymount University. Candidates are required to have evidence of a strong record of university or equivalent teaching excellence. Applicants should demonstrate an ability to enrich existing courses and develop new courses through innovative pedagogical approaches, such as applied, experiential, community-based, or other inventive, critical, and anti-racist pedagogies. Communication Studies is one of the largest undergraduate programs at LMU. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to teaching, student consultation, course preparation, review of course outlines, grade processing within deadlines, preparation of course syllabi, committee participation (e.g., College-wide Standing or Ad-Hoc committees and discipline area committees), and attending college-wide and discipline area faculty meetings. The faculty member will also participate in curriculum development, the review and assessment of student learning outcomes, campus governance, faculty organizations, and departmental program review.
