    We are seeking a Mechanical Production Artist for a global beauty company located in New York, NY. This is a ongoing freelance opportunity with the ability to start immediately. The hours for the role are 30 hours per week Monday-Friday. The role will be operating off a hybrid schedule on-site in the brand's corporate office 3x per week, only local candidates will be considered. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working on packaging mechanicals within the beauty industry or similar consumer goods industry. Responsibilities: The Freelance Mechanical Product Artist (2D) will download the necessary prep files, set up the mechanical art in illustrator, then submit to leadership to ensure everything seems right and consistent from the design side (type sizes/styles, alignment, image cropping, logo sizes, etc. emboss pattern is placed properly, etc.). Once approved, then the pdfs need to be uploaded for proofing in internal proprietary system which this individual will be trained on. After the pdfs are uploaded other teams such as regulatory, marketing , and editorial will review layouts to confirm aspects like ingredient listings and weight claims. These teams will mark revisions as necessary. After these teams give the OK, final art is released through the the internal proprietary system with a pdf and link to all the working files needed for manufacturing. This individual may need to collaborate on layouts with other members of the team as necessary. You will need to maintain type size, style, and layout detail consistently across multiple formats and carton sizes. Ideal candidates/qualifications: Highly detail oriented person needed to work on Packaging Mechanicals in fast paced environment. Hi level knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign needed. Should have excellent understanding of print production and type treatment. Understand best practices of mechanical layout for complex printing techniques including emboss plates, foil stamping, silk-screening, Etc… General awareness of cosmetics industry labeling requirements for US and Canada including OTC Drug Fact panels and regulatory info is preferred but not required. This role requires a person who will adapt well to last minute changes. Experience creating artwork mechanicals in 4 point type.

Responsibilities: Lighting Design: Collaborate with the Art Director, level designers, tech art team, and environment artists to create lighting designs that enhance the overall visual style and narrative of the game and help guide the player to their objectives. Lighting Setup: Implement lighting setups for real-time game environments and cinematics using industry-standard and custom tools, engines, and shaders. This includes both static and dynamic lighting setups. Real-time & Baked Lighting: Create and fine-tune real-time lighting setups using dynamic lighting systems. This involves adjusting light properties, shadows, reflections, and global illumination to achieve desired visual effects and optimize performance. Reach into your bag of tricks to juggle the balance between real-time and baked lighting to ensure the project hits performance and aesthetic targets. Creative Problem Solving: Game development is full of hacks and tricks. Propose solutions and collaborate with tech art and engineering teams on creative ways to get the look while maintaining the framerate. Autonomy: Self-motivated and the ability to work and solve problems with minimal assistance Post-Processing Effects: Apply post-processing effects like color grading, bloom, lens flares, and atmospheric effects to enhance the overall visual impact and mood of the game. Create new art for post-processing effects when needed (ex. lens flare variations) Matte Painting: When needed, update existing matte paintings or create new ones for sky domes, backgrounds, etc. Collaboration: Work closely with other artists, designers, and technical teams to ensure the lighting integrates seamlessly with other game elements. Provide and receive constructive feedback to achieve the desired visual quality. Troubleshoot materials for PBR (Physically Based Rendering) compliance. Optimization: Optimize lighting performance to maintain target frame rates across different platforms and hardware specifications. Implement lighting techniques that balance visual quality with performance requirements. Documentation: Create and maintain lighting documentation, including guidelines, best practices, and technical specifications for the lighting pipeline. This ensures consistency and facilitates knowledge sharing within the team. Requirements Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing your lighting work in video game projects. The portfolio should demonstrate your understanding of lighting principles, composition, and mood. Technical Skills: Proficiency in industry-standard lighting tools and software (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.). Knowledge of real-time lighting techniques, Physical Lighting Values and PBR shader authoring, and experience with optimizing for multiple target platforms is essential. JOB DESCRIPTION The Artist in Residence Coordinator will provide support for the educational needs of all Champions After-School Arts Activities, which take place in approximately 130 New York City Public Schools. The activities include all performing and visual art genres. The Artist in Residence Coordinator will take a lead in implementing programs that are designed to help NYE instructors better understand the experiences offered and foster use of curriculum and lessons that can be implemented on site. This program is designed to support teaching artists in the field, be thought partners, offering training and mentorship and create safe spaces for our youth that are inclusive of diversity, equity, culture, creativity and social emotional learning competencies. NYE wants to create holistic learning experiences for all students and provide enrichment opportunities to help them grow as young artists and individuals. The Artist in Residence Coordinator will also be responsible for project alignment to the overall mission of the art department. Artist in residence will provide a wide spectrum of artistic programs on site which involve collaboration between artists, hosting organizations, institutions, or communities. This will be a space to provide our teaching artists with resources, materials and knowledge to put their work into practice in a more pragmatic way with their students. Resources will come in the way of lessons and curricula that are in pursuit of a specific outcome related to a particular theme. With this holistic approach the AIR Coordinator will act as a direct support along with master teachers or experts in the field.
