An area service manager acts as the main overseer of operations for their assigned area. Their duties include setting targets, delegating tasks to subordinate staff, developing strategies for optimal area performance, and generating progress reports to present to upper management.

They are also responsible for overseeing the training of new employees, addressing employee concerns, communicating with clients, and maintaining and improving the standards of customer service. In terms of working hours, area service managers typically work forty to fifty hours a week, and they may also roam around their area to check on operations of different sites. When they are not visiting sites, however, they spend most of their time in the main area office.

The majority of area service managers in employment today have bachelor's degrees in business and management fields. Since the role requires supervising an entire area of operations, an area service manager has to be someone who has plenty of leadership experience in the industry and has a deep understanding of how operations work. The average salary of an area service manager is around $78,000 per year.
