What you'll be challenged to do:
In this role you will lead in the development of calculations, reports, code analysis and design documents, while progressively accepting more responsibility. Calculations will include short circuit, arc flash hazard, lighting, grounding and more. Design documents will include drawings and specifications including power plans, lighting plans, fire alarm plans, special systems plans, grounding plans, schematic and wiring diagrams.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Perform site surveys to assess existing electrical system conditions.
Provide support during construction activities as needed such as reviewing submittals and answering RFIs.
Work with the principal engineer to understand the scope of work, schedule, budget, project instructions and responsibilities.
Prepare clear, complete, and accurate drawings from rough or detailed sketches.
Apply engineering fundamentals to design as well as the NEC, IBC, NFPA and all other applicable codes.
Complete drawing responsibility tasks within scope, budget and schedule: review drawings for completeness, constructability and coordination.
Start and maintain a discipline file of working drawings for the project.
Work independently on design projects to support Principal Engineer and coordinate drafting efforts for projects.
Size and specify electrical components and materials.
Prepare equipment layouts and establish proper space requirements
Prepare power lighting, and special systems plans as well as single line diagrams and panel schedules.
Coordinate all electrical design work with other design disciplines (architectural, mechanical, site, plumbing).
Compensation:The range for this position is salary range is $100,000 - $135,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location. What you will bring to our firm:
Minimum Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
Five (5) plus years of progressive experience in the engineering and design of electrical systems
2+ years of AEC industry experience
EIT OR PE highly preferred
AutoCAD experience required.
Revit experience highly desirable.
Knowledge of low voltage power distribution is required.
Knowledge of lighting design is required.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Detail oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities include:

Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a dynamic Principal Engineer/Project Manager offering strong technical and project management experience to join our Water/Wastewater practice in Southern California (Los Angeles, Irvine, San Diego). Successful candidates will use their technical and management abilities to plan, design and construct water/wastewater infrastructure in a dynamic team setting as well as to mentor junior staff.
The required skills include business development and project management leadership of integrated teams to satisfy client requirements, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality while increasing our backlog, project revenue and profitability with current and new clients.

In the capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
* Participating in and leading project teams in the planning, design and construction administration of municipal wastewater infrastructure facilities.
* Client interaction, presentations and project coordination.
* Coordinating work activities by various technical staff and consultants including developing and implementing study and design standards for consultants to follow, leading progress meetings, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, tracking project schedules, and budgets.
* Coordinating work activities and communicating with various municipalities and governmental regulating agencies.
* Oversee construction contract management and observation services
* Preparation of reports and permit applications
* Supervise and mentor junior-level engineers
* Demonstrate professional technical writing and verbal skills
What you will bring to our firm:
* BS in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering or related field
* 15 + years of experience required in water/wastewater discipline, particularly as a water/wastewater engineer designing (study, plans and specifications) water and/or wastewater infrastructure (i.e. treatment and collection/distribution projects)
* Professional Engineer License in the State of California strongly preferred
* Progressive experience in the evaluation, design, permitting and construction administration of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, water storage and distribution facilities, and wastewater collection systems
* Demonstrated project management experience including budget and schedule monitoring and control responsibilities
* Experienced in client relations and business development
* Experience with AutoCAD and/or BIM is preferred.
* Leader and team player possessing strong planning and organizational skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation
Compensation:
The range for this position is salary range is $180,000 - $230,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
