A full-time, competitively paid position at a first-rate college preparatory school for boys. The Boys' Latin of Philadelphia Teaching Fellowship attracts and prepares teaching candidates who will address the sharp racial, socioeconomic, and gender disparities in public education in Philadelphia. The Fellowship, created in partnership with Drexel University and The Center for Black Educator Development, consists of a (1) Teaching Apprenticeship, which exposes candidates considering a career in teaching to the instructional and student engagement duties of a teacher and a (2) Teaching Residency, which begins the formal education and practice that will result in teacher certification. Provide coverage for absent teachers on an as-needed basis, preparing in advance by becoming familiar with classroom procedures and management and emergency lesson plans. Explore the teaching role fully by observing classes, shadowing teachers, taking introductory certification courses, and preparing for and taking certification examinations. Enforce the student code of conduct and serve as a culture keeper of the Boys' Latin mission. Our mission is to mentor students in biomedical science and our program was named one of the top 25 pre-college summer programs for learning science by Best College Reviews.
