The Clayton Apprenticeship Program is approximately a three-year program where apprentices will work part-time at Caterpillar and take classes part-time at Johnston Community College (JCC). During the program, apprentices will have job rotations in both Operations as a Product Assembler and in Logistics as a Warehouse Associate. You will work in an environment that supports excellence. Associate Degree from JCC in Applied Engineering
Journeyman status in a specific trade
Full-time Caterpillar position
As a production associate supporting assembly you will work to assemble/test parts, components, or systems for BCP machines according to the specified work orders. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Requires an assembly, mechanical or electronic aptitude with a good working knowledge of assembly practices
Uses various tools provided in the work area to perform assembly duties
Use of lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs.
Rotation to various positions within the Job Function area to perform related activities.
Follows documented procedures standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free assembly and adjustment of components and prime product.
Perform other related work duties as assigned.

Works from a variety of source documents to verify quantities, count parts, fill orders, package parts, etc.
Uses machines for weighing, banding, wrapping, packaging, stenciling, etc.
Performs related an/or specialized clerical duties and resolves discrepancies as required.
Maintains related clerical records and operates computer terminal to access and update information for receiving, counting and order processing.
Uses mobile equipment (Reach Truck, Forklift Stand up/Sit down, Tugger, etc.) to facilitate job functions as required. Reports defects and need for repairs.
