Essential Functions Inspect, repair, service and maintain container cranes, straddle carriers, equipment elevators, container spreaders, and other types of heavy equipment. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, motors, PLCs, engines, drive train components, hydraulic systems and other related items. Provide equipment maintenance support during vessel and terminal operations. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and service manuals. Enter work order data in software program and maintain equipment performance records. Perform related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Minimum education is a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent and trade school, related military or college-level training in the electrical field. Minimum of five (5) years' experience performing a variety of skilled equipment electrical work. Extensive knowledge and experience with drives and PLCs highly preferred. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Alter, maintain, repair or install wiring, cables, switches, controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, instrument panels, distribution panels, buzzer and bell circuits, power circuits and communications circuits; may construct new facilities from blueprints and specifications; Modify, adjust, maintain, repair or install electric motors, electrical equipment, instruments such as pumps, clocks, lamps, stoves, electrical meters, timers, fans, air conditioners, refrigerators, power tools and motors; Rewind coils and armatures; refinish commutators; replace and reseed brushes; replace work out bearings and other motor and generator parts; Inspect electrical systems, communications systems and equipment to detect and correct faulty components or parts; Inspect and maintain high voltage power transmission systems including wires, poles, transformers carrying 750 voltage, or less; REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician; OR full journey status as an electrician in a union; OR four years' applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.
