The purpose of the Fire Alarm Apprentice is to assist the Fire Alarm Superintendent in the installation of fire alarm systems. * Assist Fire Alarm Superintendent and or project lead with installation of conduit, low voltage wiring, control panels, and other fire alarm equipment. * Keep tools available and in serviceable working condition on job site. * Assist in cleaning job site, tools, and equipment. * Carry equipment, such as ladders, tools and replacement parts from vehicle or laydown area to required location. * Learn and develop working knowledge of fire alarm and special hazards installation under various teaching practices. * Read and learn NFPA 72 and NEC 70 in an effort to obtain NICET Certification and skill set needed to advance and become a Fire Alarm Technician. * Understand and follow SFS's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures. Summary The Electrical Apprentice is responsible for assisting the Electrician in completing maintenance work orders on electrical equipment. This includes, but is not limited to testing, troubleshooting, and repairing. The Electrical Apprentice will collaborate with other electrical staff to identify and solve issues. Key Responsibilities Read interprets, and executes drawings, schematics, blueprints and electrical code specifications to see layout of commercial electrical equipment installations Test electrical equipment and parts for continuity, current, voltage and resistance Installs, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic, and line assemblies, lighting, and alternative electrical parts Installs, repairs, or replaces generators and industrial storage batteries Preventative maintenance and testing of electrical systems Install electrical circuits, as well as panels, conduit, protective devices, switches, and equipment required to accommodate the CEC and/or NEC Work on electrical failures and replacements Correct connections and wiring on equipment Conducts preventative and maintenance programs, and keeps records of maintenance Complies with all industry safety standards and Enertech safety guidelines Physical Demands Must be willing to travel out of market/state for work on different job sites, Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 pounds; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes Must be able to pull his/her own body weight plus equipment weight up a vertical tower repeatedly for long periods of time Must have sound vision to be able to identify different colored wires by sight May be required to work long and unpredictable hours and meet project deadlines Minimum Qualifications Able to find the root cause of issues and think logically about solutions Diagnose problems with critical thinking to repair issues Read blueprints and schematics and use array of tools and diagnostic devices to service and install electrical parts Must have valid category five driver's license Must pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing; participate in random testing program Must have strong communication and organization skills Ability to read blueprints and instructions Must be able to work effectively with a team to get projects and job completed EVITP Certification (Nice to have).
