What You'll Do
Applied Materials AGS Automation Products Group is hiring an application engineer to support product development, customer deployment, services, and support for Applied SmartFactory automation products and solutions in the areas of manufacturing execution, factory performance, equipment performance, and advanced process control. Additionally, the candidate will drive continuous improvement, help improve knowledge base management, and seek opportunities to build organizational efficiencies using technology, AI, machine learning, automation, and optimization.
Role Responsibilities:
Support software product maintenance, diagnose and troubleshoot customer reported software product issues, propose a proper solution/workaround
Define customer issues and requirements using critical thinking and analysis
Work with global and local software/project teams to develop cause analysis and corrective action plans
Build environments to perform product functional testing, build customized solutions and reproduce reported issues
Perform software installations/upgrades and create/implement product training for customers
Assist project managers by tracking issues, patches, and resolutions
Perform project management tasks as needed
Coordinate customer's systems administration and IT teams to deploy and optimize CIM solutions to achieve factory KPIs
Present technical information to customers including technical contributors and managers
Prepare and present technical product information/training to external customers in group setting
Contribute to knowledge base population and management
Develop and deliver statements of work (SOW)
Create and implement software training and/or demonstrations
Functional Knowledge:
Requires or needs to acquire in-depth Material Control System (MCS) knowledge and experience
Conceptual and practical familiarity of material control and movement expertise in factory operations
Understanding of SEMI standards including SEMI standards E82 and E88
Knowledge of factory automation systems such as recipe management, process control, planning, scheduling, dispatching
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, IT/IS or a related field
3-7 years of experience working in semiconductor manufacturing as process engineer, software or IT engineer, or manufacturing engineer
Outstanding skills in data mining, data analysis and critical thinking to aid in troubleshooting issues
Project management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and communicate effectively
Working knowledge of databases including the use of SQL and network communication/system cluster via the use commands
Working proficiency using programming and scripting languages such as R, Python, C#, Java, C++
Knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems, TCP/IP Protocols, Web Services (i.e. check system errors, tcpdump or wireshark usage)
Knowledge about PCs and server hardware (i.e. pacemaker/suncluster and the cluster architecture)

This position is for the F\-35 Flight Instructor Pilot/Operations Subject Matter Expert \(SME\) supporting F\-35 enterprise contract training and training operations which may include new site activations/standup, engineering coordination, program management support and participation in daily operations activities\.
The successful candidate will interact with program leadership, contract training instructors/operators, simulation technicians, and overall training operations support functions\. Participates and coordinates program activities to provide contract F\-35 training across multiple CONUS and OCONUS locations\. Candidate will also be expected to maintain certain levels of F\-35 aircraft/training proficiencies based on program needs\. Acts as a subject matter expert by applying advanced technical concepts in the area of aviation and provides assistance in creation of training material\. Serves as a contract management interface with the customer for contract ground training, scheduling execution and quality\. Ensures that the day\-to\-day training instruction and support functions comply with the contract and associated requirements documents\. Assists with contract issue resolutions with the Program Management Office \(PMO\) and the prime contractor \(LM Aero\)\. Maintains communications with customer leadership and provides contract performance metrics as required\. Acts as a training site liaison in support of the local program leadership as required\. Plans for expected expansion of contract activities and assists with staffing proposals and position integrations\. The successful candidate will implement, and support Lockheed Martin initiatives, programs and policies as directed\.
This position is typically represented by an experienced pilot with a background in advanced 4th or 5th generation fighter aircraft\.

**Basic Qualifications:**
- Candidate must have a minimum of 1000 hours Fighter Flight Time in fourth and/or fifth generation fighter aircraft\.
- Former Instructor Pilot \(IP\)\.
- Candidate must have prior experience in delivering Military Pilot Academic and Simulator Training\. Candidate must have operational experience with advanced sensor systems such as NVS, LANTIRN, Helmet Mounted Cuing, and the latest weapons inventory\.
- Candidate must show evidence of demonstrated skills in managing and directing syllabus instruction to include supervising instructors and schedulers in a flight training environment\.
- Must have in\-depth knowledge of military publications and an understanding of forth and/or fifth generation aircraft systems\.
- Candidate must have worked in an environment which required them to interact with multiple functional areas and personnel of a diverse nature\.
- Candidate must have outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent leadership traits, strong oral & written communication abilities, solid ability to organize, and a high desire to provide customer satisfaction\.
- Candidate must have an active secret clearance with a background investigation completed within the past 5 years
- There is a >25% travel expectation for this role\.

Team Overview
Applied Materials' CTO group is searching for a quantum technology engineer intern to join our team! At Applied's CTO group, we focus on solid-state solutions for quantum technology, i.e. superconducting qubits and optical quantum computing. Our primary objective is to collaborate with system companies and universities to develop quantum devices with significantly lower error rates compared to current standards. Our approach centers on harnessing state of the art materials engineering and semiconductor processing, as well as our expertise in advanced optics and other relevant areas to enhance device performance.
