Who owns Vivint?

Vivint is a public smart home company that is headquartered in Provo, Utah, and operates in the United States and Canada. The company delivers an integrated smart home system with an in-home consultation, professional installation, and support, as well as 24/7 customer care and monitoring services.

Vivint was founded in 1999 by Keith Nellesen and Todd Pedersen under the name APX Alarm Security Solutions. The company started out selling and installing security systems and, by 2006, became a home monitoring provider. The company expanded to Canada after signing a $75 million credit facility agreement with Goldman Sachs.

APX Alarm Security Solutions rebranded as Vivint in February 2011, and the company completed a $565 million senior debt financing led by Goldman Sachs. Vivint also received funding from Peterson Partners and Jupiter Partners.

Vivint was acquired by The Blackstone Group in 2012 and was ranked 46th on Forbes' America's Most Promising Companies list in 2013. In January 2020, Vivint completed a merger with Mosaic Acquisition Corp to become a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange.

Vivint has over 1.5 million customers in the United States and Canada and was listed among Forbes' list of America's Best Employers for Diversity in 2020. In 2021, Vivint's annual revenue was $1.479 million, and it had approximately 11,000 employees.
