Who owns Starbucks?

Starbucks is an American chain of coffeehouses and roastery reserves. As of November 2021, Starbucks had 33,833 stores in 80 countries, with 15,444 of those located in the United States. Out of Starbucks' US-based stores, over 8,900 of them are company operated, while the remainder are licensed franchises.

Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse chain in the world. Starbucks offers hot and cold drinks, whole-bean coffee, and micro-ground instant coffee and espresso. They also have full and loose-leaf teas, juices, and pastry and snack options. Some offerings are seasonal or specific to the locality of the store.

Starbucks was founded in 1971 by Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker at Seattle's Pike Place Market. In early 1980, they sold the company to Howard Schultz, who decided to convert the coffee bean store into a coffee shop and serve espresso-based drinks.

As chief executive officer from 1986 to 2000, Schultz led an aggressive expansion of the franchise, first in Seattle and then across the West Coast of the United States. Starbucks continued to widen its portfolio by including official merchandise such as mugs and tumblers, scoops, and coffee presses.

There are several select Starbucks stores that offer "Starbucks Evenings," complete with beer, wine, and appetizers. Starbucks brand coffee, ice cream, and bottled cold coffee drinks are sold at retail stores around the United States and other countries.

The company is ranked 114th on the Fortune 500 and 288th on the Forbes Global 2000 lists.

In 2020, Starbucks reported revenue of $29.06 billion. Starbucks has approximately 383,000 employees.
