Who owns ADT?
Apollo Global Management owns ADT. The current President and CEO of ADT is Jim DeVries.
ADT is a security company that has been around for over 145 years. ADT was incorporated into Western Union in 1901 and separated its messenger business from its main signaling business at that time.
In 1909, Western Union and ADT came under the control of the American Telephone Telegraph Company (ATT). ADT began to expand into new areas, such as fire alarms and security alarms between 1910 and 1930. ADT became a publicly traded company in the 1960s.
In 2016, ADT was acquired by Apollo Global Management for $7 billion. Apollo Global Management then merged ADT with another home security company, Protection 1.
Today, ADT has more than 17,000 professionals in over 200 locations throughout the U.S., with its main objective to ensure its over 6 million customers stay as safe and secure as possible.
