What is a civil service job?

A civil service job is where employees work under the local, state, or federal government to serve their citizens. Civil service jobs include firefighters, police officers, postal workers, and air traffic controllers.

Civil service workers are employees who work for the government to provide a service to the public. Governors or mayors are not considered civil service workers, as their positions are not civil service jobs.
