How many hours a week do welders work?

On average, welders work a typical 40-hour work week. Many manufacturing firms, where most welders are employed, have two or three eight and 12-hour shifts for coverage around the clock. Depending on the length of their shifts, they may work anywhere from 3 to 5 days weekly.

Most welders can work overtime and add in extra shift work, which can occur due to an important deadline or staff shortages. They are paid accordingly if they work over forty hours in one week, as they often work hourly shifts.
