Cal Poly's University Honors Program (UHP) provides an academically enriched learning experience for the University's most outstanding and highly motivated students. It brings together students, faculty, and friends of the University to seek challenges, participate in experiential and interdisciplinary learning, grow as individuals, and expand the boundaries of their academic potential. The UHP currently serves approximately 500 students from all six colleges under the supervision of the Honors Director. The majority of instruction in UHP relies on faculty outside of the program. UHP collaborates with different campus departments to schedule courses and recruit instructors. With a current plan to grow enrollment, the long-term vision for Cal Poly's University Honors Program has two broad goals, to become the place on campus where 1) Cal Poly's most talented and motivated students elevate the doing in developing the skills needed to tackle real issues facing the diverse communities they come from and 2) faculty experiment with pedagogical and curricular innovation to support student learning & critical thinking.
Key Qualifications
* Skilled in use of desktop and online software, university web design software and hardware programs and computing systems, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, calendaring, databases, on-line systems, web research and file sharing. Demonstrated experience creating and using spreadsheets to extract and analyze data with a strong attention to detail.
* Strong analytical and data interpretation skills; detail-oriented, creative, inquisitive, persistent, and self-motivated in applying research and analytical abilities in meaningful ways to support student success and retention.
* Ability to perform business math, analyze data and make accurate projections requiring some inference.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise initiative, supervise and establish work priorities, make independent decisions and exercise sound judgement
* Eagerness and capacity to learn and adapt quickly to new technology, software, situations, policies, and procedures.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively compile and maintain records, prepare reports and summaries, write and present reports in a clear and concise manner.
* Ability to independently organize and plan multiple work unit priorities and projects and provide lead work direction and/or training and guidance to others.
Education and Experience
* Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. One year of technical or administrative experience. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Salary and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Range: $50,000 - $60,000 annually (based on a 32 hour work week)
Classification Range: $46,548 - $89,856 annually (based on a 40 hour work week)

The Honors Program Analyst is supervised by and reports to the Director of the University Honors Program. The principal activities of the Honors Program Analyst include, but are not limited to: manage all program financial accounts; hire and supervise student employees; plan and schedule Honors courses; track and record the progress and performance of Honors students, analyze student data including persistence and graduation rates; implement and analyze program assessments; administer Honors student recruitment and admissions efforts; maintain the Honors website and other communications; plan and coordinate Honors Program events; coordinate and administer joint activities, events, and programs with partner campus organizations such as Kennedy Library, University Housing, Study Abroad Program, Student Community Services, and ASI; and, publicizing Honors program activities and achievements. This position is also responsible for providing direct support to the Honors Director, including matters that involve the application of policies and resolution of complex problems and sensitive matters.
