Technical Functions An Aviation Maintenance Technician - Plater will be able to perform operations, techniques, and all other facets and processes of advanced plating operations in accordance with manuals and procedures expected by American Airlines. An Aviation Maintenance Technician - Plater will possess process knowledge about aircraft type plating including but not limited to chrome, nickel, cadmium, copper, silver, and aluminum processing. Conduct scheduled maintenance inspections. Certify for the quality of own workmanship (i.e., that it is in accordance with the proper maintenance manuals and references) Connect/remove ground power and ground start units. In addition, will possess advanced plating knowledge about critical manual operations and plating processes. Must satisfactorily demonstrate his qualifications by successfully completing a test prior to the expiration of the probationary period. Must be willing to work outdoors in any weather conditions in accordance with Company Safety Guidelines. Must be willing to work extra hours when there are operational needs, such as weather delays. Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days off. Reports to work on a regular and timely basis. Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA) Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges This job is subject to the Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing. Your previous employers will be contacted to verify if you had any DOT drug violations and/or refusals to test for drugs or alcohol in the previous two-year period. Communication (experience communicating at different levels and to different groups) Day to Day Responsibilities: • Fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter, functional area, and assignments. • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation and modification of standard techniques/procedures/criteria, and devises new approaches to encountered challenges. • Generates and maintains design specifications, protocol and report writing, prototyping, design of experiments/statistical process control product optimization, design verification & validation, FMEA, etc. • System level root cause investigation • Coordinate and implement design improvements with development partners. • Collaborate with scientists and engineers internally and externally to assess and develop appropriate design and manufacturing specifications. • Accountability of maintaining technical records within product design history files. • Individual contributor with leadership attributes to effectively represent device engineering within a large network/matrix organization. • Working proficiency and familiarity with governing standards and regulations, including Quality System Regulation (21CFR820) and Risk Management (ISO 14971).
