The Care Advocate Nurse oversees initiatives surrounding assessing the severity of the injured workers' reported injury(ies), reviews medical data in CareMC, validates and secures medical information, assesses and evaluates prescribed treatment of work related injury. The Care Advocate Nurse functions as a nurse consultant, supporting the goals of the Claim Management department and of CorVel.
This is a remote opportunity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiates and receives telephonic contact with reported injured worker, employer and medical providers to obtain treatment plan, secures medical documentation, and assesses if injured worker has returned to work
Responsible for detailed documentation within the claim system focusing on medical condition, treatment plan and return to work status
Directs callers to appropriate medical and/or claim resources
Identifies and communicates urgent situations related to treatment or patient condition directly to the claim team
Functions as nurse consultant to the claim team
Assesses appropriate medical follow up and makes necessary recommendations to the claim team, working closely with team to assist in identifying potential red-flags from the injury that may require further follow-up or additional services
Adheres to the Care Advocate Nurse production standards and Account special handling guidelines
Additional projects and duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of early intervention in the field of Workers' Compensation (WC)
Ability to write and speak clearly, easily communicating complex ideas
Ability to skillfully manage multiple, complex projects and competing priorities concurrently while working under pressure to meet production standards deadlines and maintaining strong customer service orientation
Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel spreadsheets

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience
Graduate of an approved accredited school of nursing

PAY RANGE:
CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.
For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. The level may impact the salary range and these adjustments would be clarified during the offer process.
Pay Range: $58,282 - $93,870

What You'll Do:
Contingent

What You'll Bring:

Deliver patient care using the nursing process: assessment, analysis, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Assist physicians in managing cardiac patients, including direct care within the cardiac cath/interventional lab and during cardiac or non-cardiac procedures.
Administer and manage cardiac medications and maintain a sterile field during applicable procedures.
Conduct Point of Care (POC) testing and monitor patients undergoing procedural sedation.
Operate radiographic and angiographic imaging equipment while adhering to radiation safety standards.
Collaborate with interventional radiology techs on documentation, policy, ACC reporting, inventory management, and quality assurance.
Collect and document accurate data for patient care and outcomes, including electrocardiographic and hemodynamic monitoring.
Educate patients and families with relevant health information and provide appropriate written materials.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance quality nursing care.
Must respond promptly to emergencies and arriving at the hospital within 30 minutes as needed.

What You Bring:
Education & Licensure: Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a current RN license in the State of Ohio.

Current American Heart Association's (AHA) BLS certification.
AHA ACLS certification within six months of hire.
Completion of 24 CE contact hours per Ohio Board of Nursing requirements every two years.
Expertise in patient care, procedural sedation, imaging techniques, and compliance with safety standards.
Availability: Flexible to take on-call shifts as part of a scheduled rotation.

Job Specifics:
Assist the Personal Care Director with assessment, reviewing of medications and treatment orders, and overall resident care
Knowledgeable of personal care regulations
Supervision of associates, including hiring, development and evaluating
Admit, transfer and discharge residents
Assist and accompany physician on rounds
Assist with ongoing therapeutic management of residents
Coordinate & facilitate medical follow-up and implementation of medical care
Initiate care plans and make changes
Complete accident/incident reports
Make shift entries, record on physician's order form, and transcribe physician orders to appropriate location (MAR, TAR, Dietary, etc.)
Participate in Quality Assurance programs
Participate in resident teaching activities
