Overall Summary
The Sr Power Systems Engineer is accountable for independently designing and implementing cost effective electronic BMS solutions for use in battery storage. They will conduct modeling and analysis of power electronics and battery systems in grid-tied and off-grid applications. They will also design and troubleshoot circuits, produce schematics and layouts, and other duties related to electronic BMS design.
Responsibilities:
Provide first principle techno-economic modeling to help define the dimensions and electrical configuration of battery system control. Modeling will involve controlling multiple parallel battery strings involving DC-to-DC converters and inverters as well as their interactions in grid-tied and off-grid applications.
Conduct power systems modeling and analysis, load flow analysis, and other studies of the systems to determine their performance and capacity
Support battery system design and installation in the field including troubleshooting EMI, system grounding and stability issues.
Support design and development of power electronic devices (such as DC-to-DC converters, DC-to-AC inverters, AC-to-DC rectifiers and power supplies). This includes circuit board layout with high-impedance analog signals and creepage/clearances for high voltage, discrete analog and digital circuits design and simulations.
Work on electronic designs (schematics), component sizing and theoretical analysis to study the worst cases scenarios and thus consider all the potential stress experienced by the components (stress tests)
Produce detailed engineering materials including design schematics, PCB layouts, tolerance analysis, design notes, FMEA, failure analysis reports, and technical review documents.
Verification testing of electronic components and overall product designs.
Provide maintenance of power systems application functionality, including documentation and user interfaces
Design to meet safety certification standards, such as UL and IEC.
Coordinate and manage vendor, supplier, and contractor relationships for prototype design.
Provide technical guidance to engineering personnel, manufacturing, and field operations.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required
Master's degree in electrical engineering preferred.
Minimum of 8 years' experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving complex electrical problems.
Experience in power electronics and power system modelling especially as related to renewable energy and battery storage systems in grid-tied, micro-grid and off-grid applications.
Experience with modelling tools like Matlab, Simulink, PSIM, PSCAD, PSSE etc.
Knowledge of DC/DC converters, DC/AC inverters with a strong emphasis on low-cost, high-performance designs for grid-tied battery systems (1500 Vdc).
Experience with design, specification, and procuring of electrical equipment and systems. i.e., switchgear, motors, heat tracing, UPS, batteries, cathodic protection, motor operated valves, transformers, breakers, relays, temporary generators.
Thorough understanding of electrical theory and electronics design under both the digital and analog domains
Ability to design and layout electrical circuit boards, follow IPC and other safety design standards using Altium, KiCad…
Working knowledge of embedded control systems and their applications.
Familiarity with design for EMC and availability to track down board and system level EMI issues.
Awareness of safety certification process to standards such as UL.
Knowledge of communications protocols such as TCP/IP, CAN, i²C and SPI, specifically Modbus
Strong cross-disciplinary system design skills.
Capability to select and integrate off-the-shelf component and equipment.
Integrate with a greater team and understand how components fit together into larger systems.

Job Description:
As the Hardware Engineering Team Lead, you will have the opportunity to build and develop a team of diverse engineers, help shape product strategy and capabilities for the organization, identify and develop new business opportunities, and directly contribute as a Project Leader on multiple innovative technical projects. You will manage a team of up to 10 engineers supporting a broad range of programs and projects. Management responsibilities will include performance reviews, recruiting, staff development, program staffing, and infrastructure development (workshop space, software tools, etc.).
You will contribute to and lead engineering tasks on one or multiple projects. You should have depth in hardware product development and technology evaluation, including concept generation, design and drafting, analysis (first-principles and computer modeling), prototyping, testing, verification, and transition to manufacturing partners. You should be capable of effectively leading multi-disciplinary teams consisting of electrical, mechanical, software and systems engineers. Familiarity with basic software development principles will be essential.
In addition, you will collaborate with customers and stakeholders (internal and external to Shell), vendors in the supply chain, subcontractors, Shell TechWorks project teams, and end users to identify problems and propose valid technical solutions. About the role
Enphase is looking for mid-level engineer with CPU Tool chain experience for ARM Cortex M4 & RISC V based ASICs to join our team in Fremont, CA, USA. The team is working on the development of our next generation Control ASIC to produce 22nm technology. The ASIC will be a Mixed Signal SOC built around ARM microcontrollers and RISC V.

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. This role will be responsible for coordinating and leading the development and execution of an overall program test and evaluation master plan. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones or at completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. This position is responsible for documenting plans and findings, communicating results to engineering staff, and making technical presentations. The position will coordinate segments of a specific project and may have frequent inter-organization and customer contact on difficult technical issues. The position provides technical leadership and design guidance based on system-level requirements to matrixed team members. As IPT lead, the role will involve regular interaction with and leadership of a team of engineers from test and other disciplines, along with subject matter experts from various support organizations within and outside the company. This position supports UAS/aircraft flight and ground test activities, provides guidance for the successful resolution of engineering problems, and serves as a consulting resource for engineering knowledge.
DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Responsible for generation, programmatic coordination and execution of the contents of the Test & Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP).
+ Provide technical leadership and ownership of the system verification and validation process
+ Provide systems engineering support for the follow activities:
+ Understand technical risks at the beginning of the program and identify test approaches to reduce risk in an efficient manner.
+ Establish objectives for each test event, which are tied to areas or risk or uncertainty, and lead identification of test facilities, test configuration, test instrumentation, test result analysis, etc to efficiently achieve those objectives.
+ Be willing to continuously refine and revise the TEMP to ensure it is aligned with current program technical challenges and schedule and budget constraints.
+ Develop innovative but practical solutions to verifying system requirements and capabilities.
+ Lead a team that evaluates and guides verification activities inclusive of inspection, analysis, demonstration, and test methodologies.
+ Act as primary technical representative to the customer for all test activities.
+ Lead a team of functional engineers responsible for planning, execution and analysis of development tests, ground tests, SIL tests and flight tests. Examples of included activities includes wind tunnel tests, propulsion tests, separation tests, software V&V tests, ground and flight tests.
+ Provide IPT engineering support in conjunction with program management as follows:
+ Work with the program team to define work scope, deliverables, budget estimates (NRE, materials, travel), and schedule for current and future tasking to support IRAD and customer program(s).
+ Work with the functional engineering managers to ensure priorities are well defined and resource allocations are planned to ensure staffing is adequate to meet schedule.
+ Support development of proposal content for additional scope or future programs including technical approaches and cost estimates.
+ Define status milestones and due dates to keep development on track and ensure management awareness of task summaries, schedule status, budget status, and technical issues as needed.
+ Direct the activities of engineers, designers, technicians and also the activities of less experienced professional staff.
+ Represent the Chief Engineer's office at design reviews and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) as follows:
+ Attend design reviews and weigh-in on the technical, schedule and budget needs of the program.
+ Coordinate with functional design engineers from various technical disciplines to solve relevant design issues (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Communications, Flight Technologies, Structures, etc....) and keep design efforts on track and within program scope.
+ Act as a technical representative for customer and management meetings by presenting technical content at design reviews (e.g. Certification Panels, SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, etc....).
+ Work with program managers to provide technical coordination of vendors and suppliers by ensuring SOWs and technical specifications are written and correct.
+ Coordinate meetings and technical reviews with responsible design engineers and subcontractors.
+ Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Balance customer and Company input to assigned tasks and work with program leadership to resolve any time those are in conflict.
+ Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

**Job Qualifications:**
+ Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
+ Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills
+ Must be able to demonstrate extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
+ Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
+ Should have a basic understanding of program management concepts in order to effectively communicate program direction to the technical team and vice versa.
