Direct Care employees are responsible for the oversight of the 24-hour program operation while maintaining a safe, secure and comfortable living environment for the families in residence of the facility. The Direct Care employee must be alert and prepared to answer phone calls, greet visitors and respond to emergency situations quickly and appropriately while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality. 3pm - 11pm Monday-Friday ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Uphold the philosophy and mission of the CCAB Family Shelter and Catholic Charities and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times. Interact with all program visitors, employees, volunteers, service providers and individuals of families in residence in a respectful manner. Complete all documentation, incident reports, email reports and daily logs in a timely and clear and professional manner. Ensure that program policies and procedures are followed and report issues to the co-worker on duty, Shelter Manager and/or on call administrator in a timely manner in accordance with program policy. Must be alert and responsive to recognize and respond to emergency and general situations quickly, appropriately, calmly and effectively. Communicate program/client activity at change of shift. Required to stay on shift until next employee is on site for the transfer of responsibilities. Responsible for assuring a clean, safe, secure and comfortable living and work environment. Complete house chores and cleaning as needed or assigned. Adhere to (Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) approved House Rules, Policies and Procedures. Perform full building checks to ensure safety. Check for any major cleaning issues, food storage violations and/or facility issues. This includes periodic checking of outside activities which may require a call to the police. Provide oversight and assistance to residents to assure that all cooking, food storage, dining and common areas of the facility are cleaned properly and maintained in a safe and healthy way. Reinforce appropriate parenting methods and intervene and report any issues of misconduct as needed in accordance with Department of Children and Families (DCF), EOHLC and Catholic Charities guidelines. Participate in case reviews as needed. Overnight employees may be assigned household chores. Meet in supervision with Shelter Manager or assigned administrative employee. Perform work in a residential building environment with the use of office equipment. Attendance at internal and external meetings and trainings as required. Other responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of a high school degree or equivalent with 3-4 years prior experience in social services or related field preferred. CPR certified for emergency situations. Must participate in training for re-certification to maintain current certification. Must understand and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to work with a varied and occasionally difficult client population. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail. Must possess ability to complete daily program documents. Good typing, written and communication skills. Competent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook. Must be able to physically respond to situations quickly for day to day and emergency matters while maintaining a calm demeanor. Primary Function: Responsible for providing non-nursing patient support services including transporting patients, laboratory specimens, and equipment, morgue runs, errands and deliveries, and maintaining a safe and suitable work environment of care for all patients. Our Perioperative function supports 8 operating rooms and approximately 7,000 cases annually. Statement of Purpose: The Surgical Aide assists the nursing staff with direct and indirect nursing care activities as well as environmental cleaning responsibilities. Primary Function: Responsible for providing non-nursing patient support services including transporting patients, laboratory specimens, and equipment, morgue runs, errands and deliveries, and maintaining a safe and suitable work environment of care for all patients. Responsibilities -Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed within the hospital. Assist nursing and other clinical personnel with the transfer of patients to/from transportation equipment. Assist patients into and out of automobiles using established procedure when discharging or transporting. Place equipment in vehicle as necessary. Transport deceased patients to the Hospital Morgue as required and ensuring that all corridors are clear of any obstruction. -Deliver laboratory specimens, x-rays, lab reports, telephone requests, stockroom Requisitions and other miscellaneous items, patient belongings and report necessary to support nursing unit. - Demonstrates a high level of patient engagement through communicating with patients while transporting. Engages the patient to inform them what test is being performed. Engages the patient about their stay in the hospital overall. -Move equipment on wheels such as hospital beds, carts, cardiac geriatric chairs and supplies as instructed; transport medical equipment to place of patient discharge. Wash and clean all nursing unit transport and medical equipment. Maintain area, equipment and supplies in a neat, orderly and safe condition. Alert appropriate personnel about any broken equipment or any maintenance needed. -Assist in the training of new employees in day to day procedures observing and enforcing all hospital policies, rules and regulations. - May be required to assist Hospitality associates with cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms. - Performs all other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications for Appointment KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: A working knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods used in a community-based program of care, custody and development of people with an intellectual and developmental disability; a working knowledge of the housekeeping and sanitary procedures required in a community-based living facility; the capacity for understanding and dealing with the various problems of people with an intellectual and developmental disability; the ability to implement and document specific care programs and treatments as developed by professional specialists; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, clients and their families, and members of the community; and related capacities and abilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Such as may have been gained through: graduation from a senior high school; and Experience: Such as may have been gained through: employment in a habilitative service involving responsibility for assisting in the care, custody and guidance of people with an intellectual and developmental disability. Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: At the time of appointment must be capable of performing, with or without reasonable accommodations, the essential duties as evidenced by a physician's certificate.
