Job Title: After School Program Aide Job Purpose: The After School Program Aide assists in maintaining and appropriate learning environment and providing age-appropriate activities, and contributes his/her talents to create an excellent program and positive experience in the after-school hours for the Charter School students. The After School Program operates separately from the regular school day and educational program at The Academies CMO. The Program serves only those Charter School students whose families opt to participate, and participation is not required or necessary in order for a student to be successful in The Academies CMO's regular education program.
Team Relationship:
The After School Program Aide is directly responsible to the After School Program Coordinator.
Essential Job Functions:
* Responsible for supervising a group of students independently by providing students with a safe, healthy, supportive, engaging environment during the after-school hours.
* Monitors the safety and security of students.
* Supervises students in classrooms, playgrounds, cafeteria, hallways, and study halls.
* Communicates effectively with After School Program Coordinator, Teacher(s) and/or the Principals regarding observed student behavior/progress/needs.
* Keeps accurate records of student participation/attendance.
* Assists students in completing homework in a manner consistent with the Charter School and educational philosophy of The Academies CMO.
* Assists in preparing instructional materials for the after-school program.
* Ensures materials are well-managed and school property is maintained in an orderly fashion.
* Helps the Charter School staff maintain a respectful, safe, and nurturing learning environment.
* Participates in professional development workshops and training as needed.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS PROGRAM: Work at a city park providing various recreation services and activities for youth and adults, e.g., structured recreation and play time, arts & crafts, sports, fitness, drama, dance, group games, and tutoring. High School diploma or GED equivalent, basic knowledge of recreation activities, and ability to work with a diverse population and age groups is required. Must be available to work evenings and weekends; most employees work 3-7 or 4-8 PM Monday through Friday.
YOUTH SPORTS: Youth Sports include indoor and outdoor soccer, basketball, flag football, flag rugby, and t-ball. Basic knowledge of each sport is recommended but not required. Join the PARCS Team at Camp Fresno in Dinkey Creek. Enjoy the outdoors of the Sierra Nevada Mountains while providing a safe, fun, and friendly environment for youth ages 7-17. The City of Fresno operates a family and group camp (Camp Fresno/Camp Fresno Jr.) located on Dinkey Creek, 15 miles east of Shaver Lake and 65 miles from Fresno. Weather is typical of the Sierra Nevada Mountains; summers are normally dry with occasional thundershowers and temperatures in the 80 s F.
The City of Fresno is seeking dedicated, self-motivated, and passionate people. Positions filled by this recruitment will provide youth programming for Camp Fresno attendees. Positions include camp counselors and cooks.
Qualified candidates for youth programming will have experience supporting recreation activities such as arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, fishing, sports, games, and more. Applicants should be comfortable with the outdoors.
This is a temporary employment opportunity; it does not include health or retirement benefits. The seasonal employment is between April and September 2025, depending on Camp needs. This temporary assignment in no way guarantees full-time employment. This seasonal position can become year-round. Camp counselors may work up to 40 hours per week. Specific shift times and schedules will be dependent on Camp needs. On-site camp cabin housing (dormitory) is provided for overnight shifts.
The Requirements
Experience in recreational services and customer service is preferred. Experience working with youth and young adults is preferred but not required. Knowledge of recreational and outdoor activities such as crafts, games, and sports is preferred.

The selected candidates will be required to successfully pass a department interview and a Department of Justice fingerprint before employment with the City of Fresno.
