About Us: Milford Regional Medical Center is a full-service, community and regional teaching hospital, with 145 beds, providing acute-care serving a region of 20-plus towns. Our Perioperative function supports 8 operating rooms and approximately 7,000 cases annually. Our clinicians are skilled in the most advanced procedures and technology, and provide personalized patient care in a warm and caring environment. Statement of Purpose: The Surgical Aide assists the nursing staff with direct and indirect nursing care activities as well as environmental cleaning responsibilities. The Surgical Aide provides a safe, visibly clean environment and works under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The Surgical Aide works as an integral part of the healthcare team, responsible for maintaining a safe environment in which quality patient care is delivered. Prioritization of patient care tasks at hand and communication with the health care team members is an important factor in performing the duties of this role. Qualifications: Education: High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) Certification/License: Current CPR skills preferred Experience: Housekeeping experience preferred MRMC Differentials: Hospital differentials are: $3.50 hourly for evenings, $5.00 hourly for nights, and $2.75 hourly for weekends. All differentials are paid based per hospital policy.

A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to assist in providing rehabilitation services to individuals with physical, mental, or developmental conditions that affect their ability to perform everyday activities. The COTA helps patients improve motor skills, cognitive abilities, and daily living tasks to enhance their independence and quality of life. Key Responsibilities: Implementing Treatment Plans: Assist in carrying out the treatment plans designed by the Occupational Therapist. Provide therapeutic activities to help patients regain skills necessary for daily living and working. Conduct exercises, tasks, and activities aimed at improving motor skills, strength, and range of motion. Use adaptive equipment and assistive devices as prescribed by the OT to promote patient independence. Patient Evaluation Support: Assist in the initial and ongoing evaluation of patients by gathering information about their abilities, progress, and challenges. Collect data, take notes, and report observations to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Monitor patient progress and provide feedback to assist in modifying treatment plans as necessary. Therapy Sessions: Lead individual and group therapy sessions to help patients develop skills in self-care, work, and leisure activities. Encourage patients during therapy and assist them with exercises and other activities to improve their physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities. Work on developing fine motor skills, improving balance, and enhancing hand-eye coordination in patients. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on how to perform therapeutic exercises or tasks at home to continue progress outside of therapy sessions. Teach adaptive techniques for daily living activities (e.g., dressing, cooking, grooming) to enhance independence. Provide guidance on proper posture, ergonomics, and safe mobility practices to prevent injury and enhance function. Documentation and Record Keeping: Document patient progress, goals, and treatment results in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. Complete progress notes and assist in the preparation of reports, maintaining up-to-date patient records. Ensure all documentation complies with HIPAA and confidentiality standards. Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Communicate regularly with the supervising Occupational Therapist, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care. Provide input on patient progress and assist in the development of treatment plans in collaboration with the OT. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to patient care discussions and planning. Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Maintain and clean therapy equipment and adaptive tools used during treatment sessions. Ensure the therapy space is organized and safe for patients and staff. Monitor and maintain stock levels of therapy supplies and equipment. Promoting a Positive Therapeutic Environment: Create a positive and encouraging atmosphere for patients, fostering motivation and engagement in therapy. Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients, especially those who may be facing challenges in their recovery. Adherence to Safety and Infection Control Protocols: Follow all infection control and safety guidelines to ensure a safe treatment environment for both patients and staff. Ensure that patients follow proper safety protocols, especially when using adaptive equipment or performing exercises.

The Cooperation Education Program (Co-op) allows students to integrate classroom learning with a paid work internship directly related to their field of study. Under the general supervision of the Rehabilitation Therapies Supervisor or Manager, the co-op student will receive work-site orientation and training. Position: Inpatient Rehab Therapies Co-op Aide (Non-PT) Department: Physical Therapy Schedule: Full Time ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: Learns to and then assists in patient treatment including basic therapeutic procedures/exercise, patient positioning, bed mobility, transfers, ambulation, gait training, and/or application of modalities such as ultrasound, hot/cold packs, etc. Assists with exercise classes. If enrolled in PT program, can provide patient treatments when deemed competent both in coursework completion and via therapist sign off on BMC competency. Documents patient care activities as applicable based on their educational curriculum. Keeps therapist informed of changes in patient's reaction to treatments; assist therapist in determining an appropriate time of patient completion of exercise/treatment, based on physical and functional status. Communicates with nursing and medical staff on patient status. Interacts with all patients in alignment with hospital standards of customer service, following the AIDET model. Assists in daily tasks of all clinicians and front desk operations to optimize the patient experience. Sets up and cleans patient areas and equipment. Maintains upkeep of treatment areas, sets up and cleans after treatment completion; cleans hydrauculators and splint pan as policies indicate; maintains linen and supplies as needed and notifies supervisor/manager of need to order more stock. Adjusts, maintains, and keeps inventory of equipment and supplies assigned to area. Attends in-services and staff meetings. Attends in-services on new equipment, procedures and programs. Performs other administrative duties as assigned including but not limited to photocopying, faxing, printing , data entry in word/excel, running various errands, etc. Utilizes hospital's values and standards as the basis for decision making and to support the hospital's mission and goals. JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: High school or equivalent required. Must also be actively participating and enrolled in a BMC approved college-level co-op program.
