Function
The Red Shield Summer Day Camp Program Aide will work daily with the youth in the center to build relationships and foster a friendly and safe environment for youth to grow and thrive. To accomplish this, the Summer Day Camp Program Aide will work with Program Leaders and Directors as a team in delivering programs that best meets the ever-changing needs of our youth.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with the summer programming where needed, assisting with supervision, guidance, and caring for children in an educational, enrichment and recreational setting.
Assist with afterschool pickups from school district D-11
Assist with Summer Day Camp transportation to and from scheduled events
This position will often provide leadership support to Corps ministry components that are integrated into the afterschool and summer program.
Childcare licensing compliance
Provide encouraging instruction to students during group activities.
Assist the Director or Group Leader in planning, teaching lessons, homework support, and activities.
Assist with food preparation, serving, and clean up.
Developing partnerships with parents and responsive relationships with children.
Assist in maintaining discipline and encouraging all children to follow rules.
Assist in general set up and cleanup of program area and assist with the opening/closing of the facility.
Supervise rotations with sign-in and sign-out
Assist in leading activities
Oversee the supervision of all children and ensure Program Aides are supervising children as required
Make sure each child is accounted for always
Maintain a safe environment
Report on all issues (no matter how small) to the Red Shield Director
Attend mandatory Staff Trainings
Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Work independently with little or no supervision.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to multi-task
Effectively handle stressful situations
Fluent in English language both verbal and written.

Summer Day Camp Program Aides must be at least eighteen years of age and demonstrate an ability to work with children. It is preferred that SDC Program Aides have at least three months full-time or equivalent part-time verifiable experience with school-age children. Within 30 days of hiring, you must submit fingerprints and certifications in First Aid & CPR.
Driving
The position does not require driving:
A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver's license is required.
An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
Background Check
Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.

This role involves working as a team member in the assigned unit and supporting counseling staff by carrying out various duties. The schedule for this position is graveyard (midnight to 8:00 am).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists in maintaining the unit in an organized, clean, and efficient manner.
Transports patients to and from appointments, support groups, employment searches, etc.
Maintains security of assigned units by CTP policy and procedure.
Responsible for immediately reporting child abuse or neglect to the unit supervisor and area director when applicable.
Monitors patients and their activities. Accurately documents activities of each patient during assigned shift.
Responsible for reporting all patient infractions, concerns, or problems to the primary counselor or supervisor.
