DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Recreation Aide I is the entry level classification that allows the incumbent to develop journey level knowledge and abilities. Initially under closer supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of duties related to recreational and human services programs and activities and may reasonably expect to have the position allocated to the II level after gaining experience and demonstrating a level of proficiency which meets the qualifications for the higher level class. The Recreation Aide II is the journey level classification in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full scope of assigned duties.
