Addiction training certification, Certified Medical Assistant, or completion of DBHDS approved MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) as offered by the state in which the facility operates. Experience leading a team. Prior knowledge and/or experience with regulations and standards including infection control, quality assurance, and patient care compliance for state licensure. Course work in mental health including crisis intervention. Responsibilities: Ensure the wellbeing of patients and teammates and provide a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment. Serve as a resource for new clients/patients - introducing them to other patients and teammates, explaining programs and encouraging participation. Be an active participant as part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, and interaction. Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards patients and teammates always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve concerns. Act as a role model by applying de-escalation techniques, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive culture. Recognize crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions based on training and experience. Assist in monitoring and maintaining the safety and security of the patients and the facility in collaboration with teammates. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority by conducting safety rounds, ensuring these rounds are conducted at intervals in accordance with individualized supervision guidelines (e.g., 15-minute rounds, 1-hour rounds, etc.). Search patients for contraband and manage the patient's valuables and belongings. Facilitate or co-facilitate patient educational and recovery support groups which cover a variety of topics including social skills, coping skills, and anger management. Assist in planning, overseeing and engaging patients in structured recreational activities. Document in patient records timely, accurately, and appropriately; document incidental notes as applicable. Document activities and observed behaviors on shift in the general shift report accurately. Ensure both oral and written “end of shift” reports are completed and documented by staff. Provide transportation for client/patient or coordinate transportation with appropriate staff member, as required. Obtain and record vital signs properly and communicate significant changes in the patient's condition to the Director of Nursing or Registered Nurse on shift. Observe self-administration of medication consistently and accurately under the delegation and supervision of the Director of Nursing. Track all medications that are self-administered, keeping accurate records of dosage times and amounts. Perform periodic inspections of patient rooms and the facility, and work with the facility leadership team to develop corrective action plans to address problems/concerns, as needed. Facilitate client/patient phone calls as assigned. Note physical condition, attitude, reactions, observations of activities, and appetite as necessary on shift report, upload in EMR prior to the end of each shift. Assist patients with recreational activities and other projects doing whatever possible to promote comfort, security, and rehabilitation. Observe random drug screening of all patients as dictated by the schedule provided. Assist with AMA identification and intervention. Assist with life skills development and discharge planning Attend and/or lead team meetings, and maintain ongoing, current, and required training for best practice service delivery. Provide training and assist with leading the Residential Aide team in collaboration with the Residential Aide Manager. Ability to provide shift coverage as needed. Collaborate with Residential Aide Manager, treatment team, Leadership team, and other departments on daily operations, and report changes in patient behavior and/or unusual findings to the appropriate department. Have a working knowledge of all Playbook and Pinnacle Models, following the Pinnacle Playbooks and models while ensuring the Residential Aide team is implementing and following them as well.
