Duties and Responsibilities:
Assistance for Clients can range from occasional verbal reminders to total assistance by staff according to the individual's functioning level, their ISP, their needs, and abilities etc. and must be done in a satisfactory manner.
Provide services and supports as identified in the individual client's Individual Service Plan
Interact with staff and clients with appropriate voice, tone, language, gestures, and physical movements in compliance with the individual's rights. ALWAYS respect the rights of the clients and staff
Provide training and assistance in daily living skills: dressing bathing eating cooking cleaning etc.
Provide training and assistance with self-administration and administer all ordered medication according to the state guidelines and as specified in individuals service plan (ISP)
Provide transportation for individuals as required to and from activities. Make sure House Managers are in the know and help arrange anything from Proline etc.
Attend work as scheduled, this includes ALL mandatory trainings and staff meetings - this is non-negotiable
ONLY work overtime hours upon approval from the Program Director or Designee
Comply with all duties, policies, procedures, and protocol. Written or verbal.
Provide supervision and support to individuals in community settings
Complete all skill training, progress notes, HPCs, MAR, and other related paperwork
Complete all timecards, leave slips, accident and incident reports in a timely manner and turn in when it is specified to do so
Ensure a healthy, clean, and safe environment
Observe for signs of illness or change in health and report to the House Manager
Complete all assigned duties ON TIME
Language/ Math. Reasoning Ability:
We expect you to be able to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence, as well as write up simple correspondence.
Ability to communicate information one on one in situations involving clients, family, employees, guardians, etc.
Ability to add multiply and divide when it comes to money, weight measurement, volume and distance
Ability to apply common sense to all instructions oral, written, or in a diagram and deal with problems effectively
License, Training, Certification, and Credentials:
High school diploma or GED
BCI background check clear without violations
Current driver's license and Insurance card - when they expire need to update them in our system
Maintain first aid and CPR certification
Medical administration Certification up to date if passing meds
May require physical exam for declaration of fit for duty and/or drug screen
Physical Demands:
Must be able to help client successfully get their needs met so may need to be able to lift and move someone if need be
Employee is regularly required to stand walk sit use ands
May be required to lift kneel crawl etc.
Ability to maintain focus and have vision enough to see distance etc.
Some clients may become physically aggressive so they may need a more hands on approach if this happens and a level of calmness as well
Be able to follow a plan of care and used their approved intervention techniques to adhere by the policy.
Must be able to life or pick up 25+ pounds
Work Environment:
Employee must be able to work in all weather conditions
May be exposed to airborne pathogens or toxic chemicals that are in household cleaners
Can be exposed to wet or humid conditions especially at bath time
Noise level may increase due to yelling or screaming by individual client
Ensure body fluids and blood pathogens are handled correctly- flush toilet, apply first aid correctly, may need to clean up a bowel accident etc.
