The Speech Language Pathologist will develop and provide direct and indirect services within the student's educational setting based on established Individualized Education Plan goals and objectives. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assure compliance with established state and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures. * Complies with evaluation standards and determines eligibility based on the Kentucky Eligibility Guidelines for Communication Disorders. * Prepares written evaluations and maintains records which clearly and succinctly documents services provided, students' progress and dismissal from therapy as recommended to the Admissions and Release Committee. * Effectively share results with parents and educational staff and participate in the eligibility determination process in accordance with state and local school requirements. * Participates in the multidisciplinary team process regarding eligibility issues, Individualized Education Plan development, consultation of services and service delivery models. * Employs instructional/therapeutic methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting each student's goals and objectives. * Comply with all Medicaid requirements for school-based services. * Communicate with students who have communication disorders, their families and/or caregivers and other service providers relative to the student's disability and its management; assists in development of classroom activities to meet the communication needs of students. * Assess, selects and develops augmentative/alternative communication systems and provides training in their use. * Participates in hearing screenings to identify and refer students with suspected hearing impairment and/or middle ear disorders. * Attends and completes training; provides in service training to other professionals and paraprofessionals; and attends staff meetings & serves on school committees as needed. * Performs other duties consistent with the position as may be requested by the Director of Exceptional Children Services/ Principal. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Compensation will be based on 187 contract days on the board-approved teacher salary schedule for certified or the board-approved SP salary schedule for licensed speech language pathologist.
