Early College Aide (ECA) Malden High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early College Aide (ECA) to support the Early College Program. This role is essential in helping students navigate the challenges of college-level coursework while fostering their academic growth, self-confidence, and readiness for future college and career success. Position Overview: The Early College Aide will work closely with students and staff, providing supervision and support as students complete college courses through Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) during the MHS school day. The role includes tracking student progress, facilitating study groups, assisting with assignments, and collaborating with program staff to address academic, attendance, and social-emotional needs. Time Commitment: * Approximately 19 hours per week for up to 20 weeks (Semester 2) * Monday-Thursday Program Goal: The Early College Program aims to bridge the gap between high school, college, and career by empowering students to take ownership of their future. Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 can participate at no cost, including free classes, textbooks, and materials. Through the partnership with BHCC, students earn college credits and develop professional and practical skills. Responsibilities: Supervision and Support: (approximately 6 hours per week) * Oversee students participating in BHCC courses twice a week (Monday/Wednesday) (12:50pm- 2:15pm) * Supervise students during Early College Study Hall (two days per week, Tuesday/Thursday) (12:50pm-2:15pm) Academic Assistance: (approximately 5 hours a week) Provide targeted support during study hall, including: * Facilitating study groups and group projects. * Assisting with peer editing and essay revisions. * Supporting homework completion and understanding course content. Conduct weekly check-ins with students enrolled in self-paced BHCC courses to track and encourage progress. Collaboration and Reporting: (approximately 3 hours per week) * Meet regularly with the Early College School Counselor and Early College Mentors to discuss student progress and address academic, attendance, or social-emotional concerns. Skill-Building: (approximately 5 hours per week) * Help students develop time management, study, and organizational skills to navigate the demands of college-level coursework. * Encourage self-advocacy and effective communication skills.
