Job Summary:
The Inclusion Aide provides one-on-one or small group support to individuals with disabilities, helping them participate successfully in Lemont Park District recreation programs. Responsibilities include adapting activities, assisting with personal care as needed, ensuring safety, and promoting inclusion within the program. The Inclusion Aide collaborates with day camp counselors, parents, and the Seaspar to create a positive experience for participants.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Assist assigned participant(s) in engaging with program activities by modifying rules, activities, or equipment as needed to encourage inclusion.
Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at all times, supporting behavior management as necessary.
Provide personal care assistance (feeding, toileting, lifting, etc.) when required.

Greet parents/guardians warmly during drop-off and pick-up, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
Refer all parent concerns or questions to the Group Leader or Coordinator.
Stay informed about campers' medical or safety needs based on ePACT summaries provided by leadership.
Notify the Coordinator or Program Manager of any concerns or emergencies related to camper health or safety.
Follow directives from the Group Leader and Coordinator regarding activity implementation and safety.
Provide feedback on camper experiences to enhance programming.
Attend staff training sessions and meetings when scheduled.
Communicate with the Coordinator and parents/guardians regarding attendance, safety concerns, and camper behavior.

Job Qualifications:
Applicants must be 16 years of age or older in compliance with Illinois Child Labor Laws and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
One to two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
Ability to maintain high energy and engagement throughout the camp day while working independently and following program guidelines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to various situations and participant needs.
Commitment to scheduled program times and training sessions.
Physical ability to lift and transfer up to 50 lbs., as needed.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire.
Work Environment:
The work environment for Day Camp Inclusion Aide is dynamic, engaging, and physically active, requiring flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of a camp setting.
Work will take place in a variety of locations and environments, both indoors and outdoors, depending on the scheduled activities. Staff must be able to spend most of their time outdoors during the camp season, tolerating various weather conditions such as heat, humidity, and rain.
On swimming days, staff are required to actively participate in the pool with campers, ensuring safety, supervising activities, and fostering a positive experience. This includes being in the water during designated swim times.
Physical activity is a core aspect of the job. Ability to demonstrate effective reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills, required.
Full understanding and effective application of sanitation, food borne illness, and cross-contamination policies and procedures as well as the use of HACCP protocols.
Knowledge of dining room operational procedures and etiquette, proper small wares handling, as well as knowledge of residents rights.
Willingness to work with and interact with older adults.
Compensation Pay Range:
$16.50 - $20.29
Reasonable Pay Estimate
A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $16.50 - $20.29. There are numerous factors taken into consideration in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and external equity.
