Recreation Aide will assist experienced recreation staff in all phases of recreational activities at assigned sites. Assist in maintenance and preparation of daily reports. Develop, schedule, and implement recreational programs, which meet the needs and interests of various age groups and participants with variable physical capabilities. Perform cashier duties as assigned. Responsible for summer lunch activities to include sorting of summer lunch packaging and disposal in recycling bins as assigned. Requires participation in basic first aid training.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for carrying out programs as designed for recreational sports/activities.
2. Enforce rules of facility and of recreational activity.
3. Assist with classes/programs/events and supervise all program participants which includes but is not limited to: inclusion activities and actively engaging all participants at program sites.
4. Lead and organize recreational recycling activities and arts and crafts projects at assigned locations
5. Responsible for enforcing rules of a community facility and/or at program site.
6. Schedule activities and arrange for use of a recreational facility in cooperation with assigned supervisor.
7. Perform maintenance duties and set up areas for indoor and outdoor program use.
8. Assist with classes/programs/events and supervise all program participants which includes but is not limited to: inclusion activities and actively engaging all participants at program sites.
9. Assist in maintaining daily reports of transactions as when assigned.
10. Incumbent(s) in this classification may handle sensitive and/or confidential records, plans, documents or decisions that require maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

The Recreation Aide reports to the Recreation, Fitness and Health Supervisor and is an hourly, non-exempt position.
The Recreation Aide organizes and directs trainees in leisure- time recreation/non-vocational activities and leadership programs.
Assists in center-sponsored trips and events including escorting and chaperoning. At times, may drive the students on trips/events.
The Recreation Aide assists with Water Safety programming (videos, swimming certification and swim lessons} and CIS documentation- if applicable.
May provide instructions to trainees in various recreational clubs such as sports, poetry, drama, talent shows, etc., and other creative activities, such as arts and crafts.
Mentor students in Recreation Aide Program to help establish life skills.
Ensures that all programs comply with DOL requirements.
Qualifications:
Associates of Arts degree or one (1) year of related experience working with youth.
Prefer experience in a recreation/non-vocational program.
Must be flexible with work schedule to include weekends, holidays and/or nights.
