Engaging in scholarly activities is a process which includes activity that brings enrichment to the faculty member and the profession and results in new material that can be presented to students, as well as new skills which benefit the University community and are related to the faculty member's assigned responsibilities. Intellectual contribution expectations for Scholarly Academic (SA) designation includes a Doctorate Degree with 5 intellectual or scholarly contributions during a 5-year period. Three must be intellectual contributions, two of which are articles in a preferred peer-reviewed journal. ABD and recent doctorate graduates (less than five years) require no intellectual contributions for hiring but must meet the SA or Practicing Academic (PA) requirements within five years of earning a terminal degree.
